Welcome! I'm so glad you're here.

I'm Izzy Adair Nelson, a certified birth and postpartum doula serving families throughout the Twin Cities and surrounding communities. My approach blends evidence-based care with holistic support, helping families feel informed, confident, and deeply supported throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum transition.

In addition to supporting clients as a doula, I'm a Registered Nurse at a busy Twin Cities hospital and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Midwifery student at the University of Minnesota. My background also includes more than eight years of experience in yoga, Ayurveda, and holistic health education, allowing me to integrate modern medical knowledge with whole-person, family-centered care.

Whether we're discussing labor physiology, breastfeeding, postpartum recovery, herbal medicine, or newborn care, I love helping families understand the "why" behind their options so they can make informed decisions with confidence.

Outside of client care, I'm currently expanding my education through training as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and clinical herbalist. I'm endlessly curious and genuinely passionate about birth, lactation, women's health, nutrition, and evidence-based practice.

My Philosophy

I believe birth is a transformative experience that deserves to be approached with knowledge, respect, and compassionate support. Every family is unique, and there is no single "right" way to give birth or parent. My role is not to tell you what to do—it's to provide evidence-based information, emotional support, and practical guidance so you can make informed decisions that align with your values and goals.

As both a registered nurse and a doula, I value the strengths of modern medicine while also honoring the wisdom of physiological birth and holistic healing traditions. I believe these approaches are most powerful when they work together, not in opposition. Whether your birth includes an epidural, induction, cesarean birth, or unfolds completely unmedicated, you deserve to feel heard, respected, and supported every step of the way.

The postpartum period is just as important as birth itself. I believe healing, nourishment, rest, and community are essential to a family's well-being, and that caring for the birthing parent is one of the best ways to care for a baby. My goal is to help families enter this season feeling prepared, confident, and supported long after birth.

A Personal Note

My husband and I welcomed our first baby in January 2026, an experience that has deepened my appreciation for the incredible transformation that pregnancy, birth, and postpartum bring. As both a healthcare professional and a parent, I understand how valuable compassionate, knowledgeable support can be during this season of life.

Because I'm committed to providing individualized care, I intentionally take on a limited number of clients so each family receives the time, attention, and support they deserve.

If you'd like to learn more about my approach, I invite you to explore the rest of my website or schedule a complimentary consultation. I'd love the opportunity to hear your story, answer your questions, and see if we're a good fit.
